End-User License Agreement (EULA)

This End-User License Agreement ("EULA") is a legal agreement between you ("User") and Linus Gidstedt ("Developer") governing your use of the SoundRecorder application ("App").

By installing or using the App, you agree to this EULA. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

This EULA supplements, and does not replace, the standard terms provided by Apple for App Store applications.

1. License Grant

The Developer grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on devices that you own or control, in accordance with Apple's App Store terms. The App is licensed, not sold.

2. Permitted Use

You may use the App to record, monitor, manage, and export audio files and associated metadata, in accordance with applicable laws.

3. Restrictions

You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except where permitted by applicable law. You may not redistribute, sublicense, rent, or lease the App.

4. Recording, Timecode, and Metadata Disclaimer

The App records audio and writes associated metadata, including but not limited to BWF/BEXT, iXML, timecode (wall clock, manual, audio LTC, MIDI MTC), and related formats.

No guarantee is made that:

  • Recordings will be free from dropouts, glitches, or interruptions
  • Timecode will be accurate, locked, or preserved in all cases
  • Metadata will be accurate, complete, or standards-compliant
  • Output files will meet the requirements of any specific workflow

You are responsible for verifying all recordings and files before use.

5. Data Integrity

You are responsible for maintaining backups of your recordings and files. The Developer is not responsible for data loss or corruption.

6. No Warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in this agreement limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of data, lost recordings, business interruption, or workflow errors.

8. Updates

This EULA applies to all updates unless replaced by a new agreement.

9. Termination

This license terminates automatically if you fail to comply with its terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the App.

10. Governing Law

This EULA is governed by the laws of Sweden, subject to applicable consumer protection laws.

11. Entire Agreement

This EULA supplements Apple's App Store terms and constitutes the entire agreement regarding the App.

Overview

SoundRecorder is a macOS application that runs on your device. It does not send recordings, metadata, or usage data to Phasecraft servers. Optional local-network features, such as the iPhone/iPad remote app and OSC control, communicate only with devices on your own local network.

Data Collection

SoundRecorder does not collect, transmit, or store personal information for analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry.

File Access

SoundRecorder accesses and writes audio files only on your local machine and on storage you explicitly select as a recording destination. Your files are not uploaded, copied to external servers, or shared with any third party by SoundRecorder.

Local Storage

Application preferences, settings, pairing codes, recovery sidecars, and diagnostic files are stored locally on your device using standard macOS mechanisms. These files remain on your device unless you choose to share them.

Third-Party Services

SoundRecorder does not integrate with third-party cloud services. If you purchase the App through the App Store, payment and transaction data are handled by Apple in accordance with their privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
