Production recording
for macOS.

Record BWF or WAV files with dependable timecode, metadata, pre/post-roll, RF64 handling, live monitoring, and a workflow built to hand off cleanly to SoundPrepper.

Capabilities

Built around reliable recording.

BWF and WAV recording

Mono/Poly modes, plus BWF-only LR + ISO layouts. Up to 64 input channels, depending on the selected Core Audio device.

Timecode you can trust

Wall clock, Manual, Audio LTC, and MIDI MTC. Recording with external LTC/MTC requires validated lock at record start.

Production metadata

BEXT, iXML, scene/take/tape/notes/user bits, markers, and SoundPrepper handoff. Production metadata and channel names are locked while recording and finalizing.

Live monitoring and routing

Per-channel arm, phase, solo, mute, pan, volume, meters, Mix L/R, and ISO/Mix assignment in BWF mode.

Recording safety

Pre-roll, post-roll, safety splits, RF64 promotion or RIFF-safe splitting, recovery sidecars, and disk durability checks.

Remote and controller workflows

Local-network iPhone/iPad remote app, MIDI CC, Mackie Control, and OSC control.

Remote app

Control the recorder from iPhone or iPad.

SoundRecorder includes an optional local-network remote workflow for transport and channel control. Enable Remote App from the Controllers tab, pair the device, and keep the recorder on the same LAN.

Built for local set networks

  • Connects over a normal local IPv4 Wi-Fi or LAN connection advertised with Bonjour.
  • Uses a pairing code before the iPhone or iPad remote can control SoundRecorder.
  • Controls transport and channel state when the Remote App option is enabled.
  • Shows meters and clip indicators using the same display scale as the main app.
